I was really shocked when i read that Richard Whitely has died. Countdown will never be the same again. He has always been on the telly, Christa Ackroyd is a poor second best if you ask me, and what will the lovely Carol Vorderman do? I biked to work today - Despite the fact that it looked like it might piss it down anytime. And it only took me 11 mins, I can't believe that I have been going in the car all this time, it is much quicker to bike. Although I did free wheel through a wet cow pat by accident which was a bit gross when it splattered everywhere as it had been raining. Just in case you where wondering I was biking across Hob Moore when I encountered the cow pat, it wasn't in the middle of York or anything.
Tonight after my beloved insisted on getting out the BBQ for 4 burgers and some bacon to go with them, a cat stole the remainders that he was saving for later!! It sneaked in to the kitchen and stole it off the side -Those who know him can imagine how gutted he was. Have had a fantastic day at the sea side, went to Scarborough, and ate fish and chips on the beach, then played on the 2p machines and won loads of crap, then made myself feel a bit sick on ice cream then took he open top bus back round marine drive. In respect of our impending holiday in approx 4 weeks time, I have got my bike out and ready and will be biking to work in the morning, have even prepared my lunch.
Had a lovely day yesterday, Mr. Fesk and I are having a couple of days off together, and have had a really lazy weekend together. Took my mum and dad out for a meal at the Ship Inn in Acaster on Sunday, which was lovely although the food was nothing special. Then yesterday we went to Fountains Abbey, which is beautiful anytime, but it was glorious sunshine yesterday, which just made it nicer. Anyway, we are now a 'proper' couple, as in the space of one day we have joined the National Trust, and booked a course of Ballroom and Latin American dancing. We are also considering joining the local bowls club, although at this point I must stress that this is purely because it is the nearest place that we can walk to to have a drink where we wouldn't have to be in fear of our lives, and also the beer is very, very cheap. Also we thought that it might be quite fanny. Off to the seaside today, as it looks like been another sunny one, not sure which seaside to go to though - i still favour Scarborough myself, but we will see. It is exactly one month till our hols - i can't wait, a whole 2 weeks of nothing to think about but what factor sun tan lotion to put on, and which bars to drink in that evening. Also have provisional dates booked for a bit of fiddly deeing over in brum shortly. Oh yeah, and got my final confirmation from UCAS about my place at uni, so is all starting to happen now. So feeling really happy and content at the moment.
Been quite a busy week, probably why i have only just got up and am not yet dressed. Was so warm on weds that when i went swimming I only did 3 lengths and spent the rest just stood at the end of the pool enjoying the cool water. Thurs I met Mr. Fesk after having my hair done (caramel chunks ahoy) and had my tea bought, we then bumped into an old friend of Mr. fesk's from back home that I had never met before and ended up staying in the pub till closing time. Was a good night though, and i thoroughly enjoyed my pints of lager shandy that i had been lusting after all day (especially after having to sit under a heater while my hair was done). Weird, but not unpleasant evening out last night. Tonight we are going to a friends moving in with his girl friends party, so hopefully will be a nice evening. We have another 4 days off, hurrah, with nothing planned except meals out and day trips to the seaside and fountains abbey.
Well, that's me not eating for the next year. Just been round to Nicky and Chris's to hear all about their engagement - he proposed on their holiday in Turkey, and the wedding is being planned for next August. She has already filled the house with mags, and I'm brides maid. So I now have a major reason to get fit and lose weight. Therefore I have spent the day stuffing myself silly preparing for the mega fast!!! They are both really happy, and its fantastic seeing my best mate so ecstatic. Also the ring is a corker. By the way, thanks for the present guys!! So anyway, celebrations happening Friday night.
Did you know that the pope can't have a post mortem?
This is one of the many interesting facts that i have learned over this weekend. My friends from uni and then some came over on Thursday night for our annual (ish) reunion and to go to Ascot on the Friday (in the ?4 cheap seats). Too much frivolity and alcohol was had by half so here are just some high points - they may or may not make sense depending on who you are.
Our home made bar. Kebab pizza. Drinking shots of anything you can find. Being careful with my racing programme as it had my thingys between the pages. Aiding ones digestion. Being bloody hot. Sunburn and sleeve marks. Eating cheese like animals. Prince Phillip pointing at the king. The picnic - anyone for a red hot egg sandwich? Discovering fluffly archers or whatever the hell they were called. Someone slurring her words whilst demanding to watch blazing saddles. People form Liverpool winning lots of money. Meeting George Clooney in Morrisons. Having BBQ for breakfast. Our friend winning £50,000 on the national lottery show on Saturday night. Someone being 'Adam ant' that their wrist to their elbow would not be the same size as their foot and being proved wrong!! Having a bloody fantastic weekend and being a bit sad that it had to come to an end.
I'm sure that I have missed plenty - fell free to add.
Another thing to celebrate at the weekend is that Mr. Fesk is now officially on the deed of the house, and we are debt free!!! Hurrah. Well, apart from a mortgage of course.
Also new photos from fitting of kitchen, Brid's Hen party in Dublin and this weekend to appear very shortly - watch this space.
Also, have added Gibbys web site to my links, if you visit it click on the box twice (you will see what i mean).
Well, so far so good, York city council appear to have come up with the goods in that driving around York today was a dream - better than normal, not affected by Ascot at all other than the roads were actually quieter than normal. I suspect it was still a nightmare getting in to the race course, and having said all this, I don't think that i will be rushing to be anywhere near the city centre after 5 pm, but hey. Apparently the weather is supposed to be glorious fri / sat which should help our race day and BBQ on sat a success. Only 2 more days till everyone gets here, can't wait. And 5 days off work!!! Oh yeah - don't want to say too much in case I shouldn't, but congrats!!!(You know who you are) And don't make me wear faded maroon!!!!!
Only 4 days till our university reunion plus partners and friends, can't wait. Had a practice BBQ on fri which turned into 7 people, think that Mr. Fesk thoroughly enjoyed the occasion (as did I) and there was the added bonus of him getting to use his new toy to cook shed loads of meat. Had a girlie night out last night, that started out with free wine, so unsuprisingly ended up in Toffs, at least Cath and Emily achieved their goal, a Turkish man called Alli (cliche anyone) and some bloke called matt. I therefore ended up sitting on my own fending of the all the freaks left at 10 to 2 who thought that being a lone I must be fair game. Met up with friends for lunch today in the Royal Oak, which was nice, and now have had to bail out of going to the comedy club as am at work all day tomorrow and don't want tot be knackered for the weekend. All in all this had been a very good week.
I think that Mr. Fesk and i are not very nice people. The knob who lives next door (well seems to) has just fallen over due to his broken ankle, and banged his head - we know this as we could hear them shouting, and all we did was leg it inside so we wouldn't have to pick him up- and then go upstairs for a better view when it became apparent that they had called an ambulance. Just in case you are wondering, there is no way he is hurt that bad, as his mother and the people over the road are outside chatting waiting for the ambulance, as if we thought it was really bad we would ask if they needed anything (well I hope we would anyway, although he is a cock). So there you go, don't piss me off then injure yourself when there is only me around as I will do nowt!!! On a better note, we have fantastic garden furniture and a new BBQ - I have even started to creosote the fence I started 2 years ago. Having a practice BBQ tomorrow for next weekend when everyone is coming to stay for Ascot (uni reunion, but this time with a couple of partners).
Went to B&Q on Sunday garden furniture shopping. Bit of trauma when we realised that the table and chairs and posh gazebo we had bought were no way going to fit in to the back of my little pug. So spent approx 45 mins looking like knobs taking off the packaging and ramming things in the boot and waiting for Vikki to come and pick up the bits that we couldn't fit in. Anyway, after all that trauma the garden now looks great, and I have finally got round to putting the wood chippings on the soil and weed killing and things. My plan for the weekend - aside form drinking - is to creosote the fence whilst Mr. Fesk trims the bush ;) Then we will be all set for outdoor meat cooking.
Well, what can I say - thanks for a cracking weekend ladies, and a big thanks to Jim McDonald for being my inspiration (what about yer!) Memorable points of my weekend away in Dublin: Breaking down on the M1 on the way to Brum and waiting for the recovery truck on the embankment, and nearly being abducted (well not really but I don't know why the dodgy men pulled up behind me). A big thanks to the man who looked like a Stave by the way. Being drunk from thurs night till sun. Starting drinking in the airport at 10am for 'just the one, and then the plane being delayed. Toni seeing a flacid penis. Realising that the whole of Dublin is non smoking and having to traipse outside and have your hand stamped whenever anyone wanted a fag. Fajitas. Pennys. The big pointy thing. The crazy guide woman singing Molly Malone to us on the open top bus we climbed on to wake us up, and make us feel like we had seen some culture. The stench of the lift in the hotel. Laughing a lot. Sleep deprivation. Toni wearing a mad leprechaun hat and beard. 35 Euros for 3 doubles. An absolutely excellent hen weekend that will be remembered for a while.
