Trying to set up a get together to Royal Ascot, should be a laugh if i comes off. Hope so. Also well done to lyndsy, the latest in a long line of my friends who has embraced debt and B&Q and bought her own house. Preparations are also beginning for Brid's impending hen weekend in Dublin, wich i think might entail some of the heaviest drinking i have ever done in my life. Oh yes, adn last but not least - vinegar platelets..... ;-)
Well, I think it is safe to stay that my bank hol has had all the ingredients it should: DIY, trips to the tip, lots of chocolate, beer, hangovers, shit telly, friends visiting, and oh yeah - a kebab! The kitchen is rapidly starting to resemble a kitchen again, which is good, might even get things in cupboards later. I'm sure there will be arguments over that. Went to Ziggys on Saturday, as we couldn't get in Toffs as my friend Paul had what the bouncers deemed to be trainers on. The fact that they were a lot more expensive than your average silver buckled slip on favored by the majority of their clientele Paul decided to launch an appeal - totally pointless given that the bouncers are so far up themselves they live of their rectal secretions. Anyway, when I tried to get Paul to move on i may have happened to (jokingly) say that it was there prob is they would rather have cheap whores than his expensive trainers in here - to which the bouncer took major offence. The one flaw in my joke been that the bouncers really do think that toffs is a GOOD club, (and not in the cheesy realistic way in which it is close to my own heart) and seem to be oblivious to the chav element. Anyway, I stand by my belief - It IS full of cheap whores and chavs,( with the exception of a select few), but that is why we go back, because it is funny,(and lets face it most of us have snogged a dog or two in there) and would not be the same without them!! So my advice to the bouncer- get over yourself.
Thank god the weekend is here, and the kitchen is getting closer to completion. In fact if MFI had not delivered faulty goods it would prob have been finished today, but as the piece of worktop for where the sink goes was damaged and cannot be delivered till weds (MFI by the way have been complete arses, and not at all helpful considering it was there mistake) so we still won't have a sink till then, but hey ho! Mr. Fesk has done an absolutely excellent job of the kitchen (I knew he would) and it is going to look fantastic.
The kitchen is coming along nicely, and even thought we have no sink or cooker we are coping quite well. The garden is also looking good at the mo, spent yesterday pressure washing the back garden - and myself (had to have a shower afterwards), and have also tidied the shed and planted new flowers and pots. Also something else of significance happened this weekend - Morgan lifted his leg to pee, he is now officially a big boy. (Morgan is Stu and Vikki's dog by the way, not my pet name for Mr. Fesk).
The kitchen was here at 8.30 am, closely followed by dinorod to clear the drains, then the cooker came. The kitchen is now seriously challenging my need for tidiness, also the lounge carpet appears to be suffering - I just need to focus on the final product!!!! The guineapig harness bought from e bay came this morning, the guineapig looked fantastic, there will be pictures to follow, the only problem was that neither Norris or Percy were cooperating and refused to walk, even when i screeched 'walkies' at them. Don't they know that's just not cricket!!
Am very tired, even though I went to bed at 9 o clock last night, but we have been very busy with hardly any time to sit and relax. Spent the last couple of nights sanding down the wood in the kitchen and then washing it with turps - it now stinks in there...... and tonight I can not go to bed before the whole kitchen, including the ceiling has been painted - twice!!! So much for our St. Patricks day drinking sesh, even if we had time the kitchen is coming between 8 and 1, so sods law would dictate that it will come at 8 if we get hammered. We also have a man coming to sort our drains as they are currently draining all over the back lawn (think it must be to do with the amount of loo roll used by certain male members of the house hold ;-)) So another busy weekend, but at least we have a number of days off to get sorted!!! No more work for a while - Yippee!!!!!
Have had a really enjoyable but hectic weekend. Finished work on Friday, pooped, and then came home and quickly tidied before Mr. Fesks parents arrived at 5. We then went out for a gorgeous meal at the Tung hing (looks shit form the outside but the food is fantastic!!). On sat we were up early ad went into town for a fat bastard breakfast at BHS, where my mum met Mr. Fesk's parents (not too traumatic, although apparently i don't eat my toast proper like). We then had a mooch round town, and went for tea and cake at the Spurriergate centre. Nick then spent 3 hours coaching his mum and dad with their new lap top. After dropping them off at Whixley, we then came home and went to Stu and Vikkis for the most fantastic meal, and gorgeous desert. Then came the hard work, had to get up this morning to empty the kitchen cupboards in preparation for Nick and Stu to rip the kitchen out. At this point i could feel very smug for not having drunk the night before. We had borrowed a van, so as the MEN ripped out the innards (which they seemed to enjoy a lot) Vikki and i chugged round town to skips dropping off the crap and getting food from subway. Anyway, is done now, although new kitchen innards not coming till next Friday, so we are now without a kitchen for probably the next two weeks, but it will be worth it. About to be very anti social now, as we are getting showered, watching telly, ordering take out and NOT answering the phone unless it is an emergency.
Spent a very sad weekend recovering form my hangover from Friday. I only left the house once and bid on lots of shit on Ebay, and won it all!!! I am now the proud owner of 2 antique brooches, 2 unique tops and hopefully 2 guinea pig harnesses and leads (won't know if i have won them till weds so fingers crossed). Got really drunk on fri, very quickly, must be out of practice - or could it be to do with volume?? Not much else to say really, been all work and dossing. Although I did have a very nice day on Friday, after dropping off my car at the garage, i then got a lift in to town, then took myself to BHS for a breakfast, i then bought myself all the little oddments I needed and spent vouchers etc, and got myself some really nice shoes, I also met my friend Jayne for a coffee in a nice tea room, then met Vicky in Varsity for a drink whilst she had lunch, then i got the bus back to pick up my car, it was really nice spending the day with myself - oh yeah, then I went out and got really drunk.
Forgot to mention, driving home form work (luckily round the corner from home, ad not on a busy main road) my spare tyre dropped off the bottom of my car!! (I have a Peugeot, and the spare is on a wire rack under the car). You can imagine my surprise when i heard a clunk then the sound of dragging metal, when I looked behind me to see a wheel in the road. i quickly twigged what had happened,so put the car in reverse to collect the wheel, thus bending the rack it had come of under the car!!! Anyway, hauled the tyre in to the back of the car and merrily drove e the last couple of mins home, rack dragging on the floor behind me. Its booked in to the garage on fri, the man took it seriously until i told him about the rack bending when i reversed!!! An easy mistake I feel!!!seriously though, if this had happened on a busy road or motorway it could have caused a major accident.
Just finished a mega shift. Was doing a long day anyway, 8 - 4 at one house then 4.30 - 10 then a sleep over at another house, then back on at 7 the next day. However ended up being sent to do a sleep over at yet another house as their waking night didn't turn up, anyway, got there only to realise that they expected me to put everybody to bed (have only worked there once before) and then get them up in the morning. I put them to bed, but certainly did not get back up at 6 this morning to get them all back up, I reminded them I was agency and that I had done a double, and politely explained that they would have to sort it out themselves, as i was only helping out in an emergency. This sounds a bit arsy, until I also fill in the fact that i had to get up at 3 am and check everyone, and take them to the loo etc, and that one of the guy's stayed up until 4.30 am!!! Also had to sleep on a camp bed in the lounge, right next to a very loud, very bright fish tank!!! Contrary to popular belief these were not calming and soothing to watch and did not make me feel relaxed enough to get to sleep, they just pissed me off and kept me awake!!! Anyway, just another positive reinforcement that leaving was the right thing to do!
